Antonia Pepita Giesler
CINEMATOGRAPHER
Antonia Pepita Giesler was born and raised in southern Germany. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Cinematography from Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf.
With the award-winning short film "Schwarmtiere," she was nominated for the Michael Ballhaus Prize at the First Steps Award in 2021.
Giesler has worked on several award wining films such as the short film "Fluffy Tales" which was nominated for the German Short Film Award and the documentary "Benedikt", received the Arte Documentary Award.
In 2024, Giesler shot her first feature film "Hygge" by directors Lena Fakler and Zarah Schrade, which will have a cinema relase soon.
Her work includes fictional and documentary projects, as well as experimental work like the performance project "Play Replay" by Artist Eszter Salamon, and has been showcased at many international festivals.
Building an individual aesthetic for each film and developing visual languages for different characters are part of her passion for her profession.
At the 73rd Berlinale, Giesler was part of the jury for the Friedensfilmpreis and has taught Cinematography at Filmarche Berlin.
