Fee Strothmann
CINEMATOGRAPHER
Fee Strothmann, born 1988 in Göttingen, started her career in the film industry at the Studio Hamburg camera rental in 2009. Throughout the years she gained extensive experience as a camera assistant, electrician and camera operator for inter-/national film productions. In 2015, she began her studies at the Filmuniversity Babelsberg which she finished with a Masters degree (summa cum laude) in 2022.
Her first documentary project in university had its premiere at DOK Leipzig Filmfestival; her first short movie RIEN NE VA PLUS, directed by Sophie Linnenbaum, participated in more than 30 Filmfestivals, such as Camerimage and Cannes Filmfestival. Fee Strothmann also studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico City where she shot her BfA graduation film El CORAZÓN DEL VOLCÁN that showed on numerous international fantasy Filmfestivals. Her first medium length co-production for TV, JULKA & JULIE directed by Gloria Stern, won Best Student Short at the Love Story Short Filmfestival and Best LGBTQ at Toronto Women Filmfestival.
Following her first two feature length movies with director Sven Taddicken, Fee Strothmann has shot fictional as well as documentary projects. The past 15 years in the industry have taught Fee Strothmann the understanding of a professional film set. Creativity derives from the people involved, thus shooting a movie means teamwork to her. For the future, she hopes for a more courageous industry and strong screenplays that take social development into account. Fee Strothmann is a member of the german association of cinematographers BVK and member of the board of the German female cinematographers Network CINEMATOGRAPHINNEN.
