Lotta kilian

CINEMATOGRAPHER

Lotta Kilian was born and raised in Hamburg. She graduated in Cinematography from HFF Konrad Wolf in Potsdam Babelsberg.

Kilian was awarded the German Camera Award for Best Short Film for “Wir sterben”. Her feature films "Top Girl" and "Landstück" were shown in the Forum section of the Berlinale. In 2020, she shot six episodes of the series "Druck," directed by Faraz Shariat, followed by the series "Loving Her" with director Leonie Krippendorff in 2021.

In the same year, she filmed the feature film "Luise," a historical chamber play directed by Matthias Luthardt. At the Camerimage Film Festival 2023, Kilian received a nomination for the Golden Frog in the Cinematographers' Debut Competition for "Luise".

In 2022, Kilian shot the German Television Award-nominated series "Becoming Charlie” as well as the miniseries “24 Stunden” again in collaboration with director Leonie Krippendorff.

In 2023, Kilian completed filming the medical drama series "Push" for ZDFneo, which tells the story of births and the everyday hospital life of three midwives.

"Nichts was uns passiert," directed by Julia C. Kaiser, has won the Grimme Prize 2024.

Lotta Kilian has been nominated for Best Cinematography at the German Film Awards 2024 for the feature film "Luise".

She is a founding and board member of CINEMATOGRAPHERINNEN - Women Cinematographers Network e.V.
