Meret madörin

CINEMATOGRAPHER

Meret Madörin was born in Northern Germany and grew up in Switzerland. Early on it was clear to her, that both the photographic image and the cinematic moving image, and thus the work behind the camera, would be the common thread of her professional path.

Madörin graduated with the Bachelor of Arts in Film from the Zurich University of the Arts and won her first camera award with her final project, the short film "Storm". After working as a camera assistant on numerous feature and television films in Europe, Asia and Africa, Madörin completed a Master's degree in Cinematography at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf.

With the award-winning short film "Trading Happiness" by director Duc Ngo Ngoc, she was nominated for the Michael Ballhaus Prize at the First Steps Award in 2020.

In 2021, she shot the TV film "Geheime Schatten" directed by Stefan Westerwelle and "Taste of Home" by writer and director Âni Võ. In the same year, Madörin began filming the documentary "Exile Never Ends" by Bahar Bektas in Turkey.

The multi-award-winning documentary "Three Women" by Maksym Melnyk, which Madörin shot in Ukraine, celebrated its world premiere at Dok Leipzig in 2023, followed by numerous film festivals worldwide.

In 2023, she worked with director Duc Ngo Ngoc on their fourth joint project, the six-part series "Made in Germany", which focuses on the young post-migrant generation and deals with the topic of origin in a completely different way.

Creating a new world through filmmaking is her passion. She always strives to develop or portray a cinematic world that touches, encourages, entertains and creates connections between cultures, themes and people. Madörin is based in Berlin and Zurich and enjoys working worldwide.
