MARTINA PLURA
DIRECTOR/WRITER
Martina Plura knew early on that filmmaking would become her path. At the age of 11, together with her twin sister Monika, she began developing her own stories and visual worlds and discovered her passion for films, especially horror films.
She is a director and writer whose work spans high-end comedy, thriller and genre storytelling, combining tonal precision with strong visual clarity.
Plura studied "Media Arts" at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and directing at the Hamburg Media School, where she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts. In addition, she completed a year abroad at the Escuela Internacional de Ciné y Television in Cuba, a country to which she maintains close creative and personal ties.
She has directed across formats and audiences, including the motion picture film “Mein Lotta-Leben 2 – Alles Tschaka mit Alpaka!,” which is the second film based on Alice Pantermüller’s bestselling children’s novels of the same name. In 2022, she directed twelve episodes of the series “Last X-Mas” and 2023 the thriller “Unsichtbarer Angreifer."
In 2024 she directed the feature film “Mädchen Mädchen! Hot Girl Summer“, which premiered at the Film Festival Munich 2025.
One of Martina Plura’s most recent projects is the successful and award-winning Netflix crime comedy series ”Achtsam Morden/Murder Mindfully“, which she directed season one and two, with cinematography by her twin sister Monika Plura. The series won Best Comedy-Series at the German TV Awards 2025.
Her work is defined by a confident command of genre, rhythm and tone, allowing her to move seamlessly between comdey, suspense and darker narrative elements.
Martina Plura is represented by Patricia Barona.
