Rabeah Rahimi

Rabeah Rahimi is an Afghan-German director, writer, and producer based in Berlin. Born in Kabul, she fled Afghanistan with her family as a child and grew up in Germany. After a career as an actress, Rahimi studied Film and Television at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2023.
Rahimi‘s documentary short “Gemeinsam gegen Parkinson” received the award for Best Short Documentary at the International Berlin Short Film Festival in 2023. Her first fiction short, “Vogel, flieg!”, which she wrote, directed, and produced, was funded by the BKM and premiered at the Hof International Film Festival. The film went on to screen at numerous national and international festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand, Goldener Spatz, Filmfest Dresden, Emden-Norderney, and Filmfest Osnabrück, and received several awards, among them the Goldener Spatz, the Engelke Short Film Award in Emden and the Audience Award at Filmfest Osnabrück.
Currently, Rahimi is developing her feature film debut, “Dita.“ The project has secured funding from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Filmförderung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and was awarded the Emden Screenplay Award 2025.
Rahimi‘s experience of displacement and of living between different cultures continues to shape her artistic perspective and her interest in stories about identity, belonging and human connection.
In addition, she founded her production company RAR Film, through which she develops fiction and documentary projects with a focus on underrepresented perspectives.
