TONY VAHL

DIRECTOR/WRITER

Tony Vahl is a Berlin and Warsaw-based director & writer whose work moves between the psychological and the visceral. She studied psychology and art at the Caspar David Friedrich Institute before turning to directing at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf.

Her films have screened internationally at festivals and on television, with a strong presence across the festival circuit: from the premiere of “Gömböc“ at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival to the Grand Prix at the Bristol Film Festival for “Unter Null“, which also qualified for Oscar submission. Her graduation film “Pein“ further established her voice, earning a nomination for the German Short Film Award, the Golden Horseman at the Dresden Film Festival.

Her debut feature “KRUX”, will celebrate its world premiere at Toronto Film Festival 2026 and has been selected for the Competition section of the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival.

Vahl is currently working on her next feature film The “Invisible Island” and the miniseries “Sleeping Swans”, which won the Series Development Prize at Seriesmakers, SeriesMania Festival 2024.
