Malina NNendi Nwabuonwor
WRITER
Malina Nnendi Nwabuonwor comes from a family of carpenters and undertakers in rural Austria, but soon ventured into other realms. She studied screenwriting at the Vienna Film Academy, as well as at the "Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica" in Mexico City.
Additional to her screenwriting work Malina is jury member at the Vienna Film Fund, Head of Studies at the EPI Media Workshop series "Beyond Stereotypes” and founded the Austrian initiative for diversity in film called “Gewächshaus".
She is writing series for Netflix, Amazon and others as well as feature films for the German and international market. Her most recent projekts are "Sam - a Saxon" (Disney+) und "Para - We are King 2" (HBO Max).
She lives in Vienna and Berlin.

DOLLY
Malina Nnendi Nwabuonwor wrote one episode of the six-part Netflix series “Dolly”, which is still being filmed through the fall.
Candy Shop GmbH, headed by Hanno Hackfort, Richard Kropf, and Bob Konrad, is producing the series in collaboration with BetaBerlin Production.
DRIVE - THE PRETENDERS
Malina Nnendi Nwabuonwor and Chris Silber adapted the screenplay from Tamara Lush's novel. Bavaria Fiction is producing the film with director Sergej Moya for Amazon. The series will premiere on Prime Video on October 28, 2026.
The film is about a car-enthusiastic mechanic who fakes an engagement to a racing star in order to fulfill her dream of becoming a racing driver.
VARIA
Dance scenes always get me. This form of expression, coupled with good storytelling, strikes me as a powerful way of bringing a character's inner monologue to the screen. In my books you will always find a dance scene. In obvious and surprising places.
