PEER KLEHMET

WRITER

Peer Klehmet studied law at Humboldt University Berlin and completed a master’s degree in copyright law at King’s College London before completing his legal clerkship at the Kammergericht Berlin. Together with Rafel Horzon, Martin Eberle and others, he founded the legendary gallery Berlintokyo, which decisively shaped the art and nightlife of Berlin in the 1990s.

Klehmet came to screenwriting when he co-wrote the screenplay for “Kleinruppin Forever.” His second feature, “Sommer”, was the beginning of a long term collaboration with SamFilm Produktion, with whom Peer complete seven feature films, including the musical “Rock It” and four of the five parts of “Fünf Freunde” (“The Famous Five”) one of the most successful children's cinema series to date.

Peer Klehmet is one of the few writers to work not only in commercial cinema, but also in arthouse film. He works with directors such as Benjamin Heisenberg, Robert Thalheim and Christoph Hochhäusler, whose film “Dreileben – Eine Minute Dunkel” screened in the Berlinale Forum and received the Grimme Award and the German Television Award. He was part of the writing team of the series “Wild Republic” (Magenta TV / ARTE / ARD).

Peer Klehmet is represented by Katrin Näher.
