FABIAN GAMPER
CINEMATOGRAPHER
Fabian was born in Switzerland. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in film from the Zurich University of the Arts, he worked as a second camera assistant on various feature and television films. He then studied cinematography at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. His first feature film as a cinematographer “Die Tochter,” (“Dark Blue Girl”) by Mascha Schilinski, celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale 2017 (“Perspektive Deutsches Kino”). The film was screened at over 40 festivals worldwide and received several awards.
2018 he won the “Deutscher Kamerapreis” for the short film “Freibadsinfonie,” (“Blue Summer Symphony”) by Sinje Köhler. In 2021, he started a collaboration with Robert Gwisdek for several projects in a row, such as Robert's feature film debut as a director “Der Junge, dem die Welt gehört” (“The Boy Who Owns The World”).
He was the director of photography for “Sound of Falling,” directed by Mascha Schilinski, a film that has made its way into the competitive lineup at the Cannes Film festival 2025. The film was awarded the Jury Prize at the 78th Festival de Cannes and Fabian was awarded the “Silver Frog” at the “33rd Cameraimage” and was honoured with the Golden Lola at the “Deutscher Filmpreis 2026” for his work.

In die Sonne schauen / Sound of FallinG
Fabian Gamper is DOP of the feature film “In die Sonne Schauen / Sound of Falling,” directed by Mascha Schilinski and produced by Studio Zentral, ZDF / Das kleine Fernsehspiel. The film was awarded the Jury Prize at the 78th Festival de Cannes and Fabian was awarded the Golden Lola at the Deutscher Filmpreis 2026 for his work.
”Sound of Falling”/“In die Sonne schauen” will be screened at the Toronto International Filmfest in the section Special Presentations.
Fabian Gamper won the silver frog at the 33. International Film Festival EnergaCAMERIMAGE for his outstanding work on this film.

Fabian Gamper´s latest work is the feature film "Morgen war Krieg" directed by Nicolas Ehret and produced by Epik Filmproduktion.
“Morgen war Krieg” will celebrate its world premiere at the 2026 Munich Film Festival.
