Simon Schneckenburger
WRITER/DIRECTOR
Born in the Black Forest, South Germany. Simon Schneckenburger graduated in Fiction Directing from Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. The first short film during his studies “Borzaya“ screened at festivals all over the world and got shortlisted for the Student Academy Awards.
His graduation film “Skin on Skin“ has been screened at more than 60 festivals worldwide and has won over 30 awards, including the Future Frames section at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. At the First Steps Awards, the most important award for up-and-coming filmmakers in the German-speaking world, the film made history as the first ever to win three awards.
Currently, Simon Schneckenburger is developing his first feature film and a mini-series.

SKIN ON SKIN
Simon Schneckenburger won the 2025 Allwyn Residency film scholarship in Los Angeles for his short film “Skin on Skin” at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The KVIFF held the 11th Future Frames – Generation NEXT of European Cinema, supporting recent European film school graduates, organized with European Film Promotion.
The film is currently available to the public in the ARTE media library through early September.
TATORT - Freund und Feind
Together with DoP Nico Schrenk, Simon Schneckenburger enters the world of the “Tatort” series. He is directing the episode and also participated in writing the screenplay. “Freund und Feind” is the first SWR-”Tatort” to be outsourced to a production company. Giganten Film with procuder Gerrit Klein is handling the production. As always, Eva Löbau and Hans-Jochen Wagner star in the lead roles.
